Houston, TX (January 16, 2026) – Authorities in Houston are investigating a possible hit-and-run crash after a man was found dead in the roadway early on Friday morning in the city’s southwest side.
Police were called to the 600 block of Almeda Genoa Rd around 3:00 a.m., where they discovered the man lying unresponsive in the street. Emergency personnel confirmed the individual had died at the scene, and officers immediately began treating the incident as a suspected hit-and-run.
Roughly an hour earlier, police had responded to a separate crash involving a pickup truck in the same area. According to reports, the driver of the pickup attempted to flee the crash but was later involved in a second collision. Investigators have not confirmed whether the truck is linked to the man’s death, but they are exploring all potential connections.
Detectives are canvassing the area for surveillance footage and additional evidence. At this time, no arrests have been made, and the identity of the deceased man has not been released pending notification of the family.
