Indianapolis, IN (January 17, 2026) – Seven people, including five children, were hospitalized following a serious crash Friday afternoon on I-465 in Indianapolis that involved a passenger vehicle and a box truck.
The collision occurred just after 12:50 p.m. on January 16 along the northbound lanes of Interstate 465 near the entrance ramp from Sam Jones Expressway to I-465 southbound. Emergency crews from Indiana State Police and local medics responded quickly to the scene to assist the injured.
Authorities confirmed that five children and two adults were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The conditions of those injured have not yet been released. Photos from the scene showed a gray passenger car with severe rear-end damage and a white box truck with moderate front-end impact. Both vehicles were towed from the area following the crash.
As a result of the incident, the roadway near the crash site and the exit ramp onto I-465 southbound were closed for approximately two hours to allow for emergency response and cleanup. All lanes have since reopened.
Indiana State Police have launched an investigation to determine what led to the collision. Further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
