Indianapolis, IN (January 16, 2026) – A female pedestrian was injured and transported to the hospital following a hit-and-run at the intersection of E 16th St and N Meridian St on January 15. The incident occurred just before 4 p.m. in the Near Northside neighborhood and prompted a rapid response from multiple EMS units.
Emergency dispatch audio confirmed that a dark-colored SUV backed into the woman in a parking lot before fleeing the scene. The victim was reportedly standing near the entrance of a CVS store when the vehicle struck her and left the area without stopping.
Medics from Ambulance 05, Squad 07, EMS 91, and Medic 18 responded to the location and treated the woman at the scene. She was conscious and alert but reported pain in her left foot. According to responders, she was struck by a vehicle traveling over 20 miles per hour. No life-threatening injuries were observed, and she was transported to Methodist Hospital for further evaluation.
Authorities have not released the identity of the driver or provided an update on the suspect vehicle. The case remains under investigation by local law enforcement.
