Jackson County, MO (September 2, 2025) – Two individuals sustained minor injuries late Saturday night in a rear-end crash on MO-F, just north of Cline Rd. The accident took place at approximately 10:58 p.m., involving two northbound vehicles.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred when a 16-year-old male juvenile driving a 2022 Kia Sorento struck the rear of a 2011 Honda Civic, driven by a 41-year-old woman from Independence, MO. Both vehicles were severely damaged and had to be towed from the scene by Hooker’s Tow.
The Kia was carrying two passengers— a 17-year-old male from Oak Grove and a 19-year-old male from Bates City—both of whom suffered minor injuries. Emergency responders from Sni Valley EMS and Lone Jack EMS transported the injured occupants to Centerpoint Medical Center for evaluation. All involved individuals were reportedly wearing safety restraints at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Honda Civic did not report any injuries. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department assisted troopers at the crash scene, and no further information has been released regarding possible citations or charges.
We hope for a full and quick recovery for the young individuals injured in this collision.
Rear-End Collisions in Missouri
Rear-end crashes like the one that occurred on MO-F near Cline Rd are among the most common types of traffic accidents in Missouri—and they often happen when drivers are following too closely, speeding, or distracted behind the wheel. In this case, both vehicles were traveling northbound when the Kia Sorento impacted the back of the Honda Civic, resulting in injuries to two of the Sorento’s passengers.
Even at moderate speeds, rear-end collisions can cause significant vehicle damage and leave passengers with soft tissue injuries, concussions, or other trauma. For teen drivers and their passengers, these incidents highlight the importance of maintaining safe following distances, especially during nighttime travel when visibility is reduced and reaction time is critical.
Fortunately, all occupants in this crash were wearing seatbelts, which likely helped reduce the severity of injuries. However, medical attention is still essential—even minor crashes can result in delayed symptoms or complications that require follow-up care. Transport to Centerpoint Medical Center ensured that both injured passengers received prompt evaluation.
Missouri law allows those injured in crashes caused by another driver’s negligence to pursue compensation for medical expenses and related losses. In this case, the involvement of a juvenile driver adds further legal complexity, making documentation and timely action even more important.
