Jackson County, MO (August 22, 2025) – A rear-end collision involving a teen driver and an adult motorist resulted in injuries Thursday afternoon on MO-F at Al Gossett Rd in Jackson County. The crash occurred around 12:45 p.m. and is being investigated by CPL. A. D. Lindgren of Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A.
According to the official crash report, the incident took place when a 17-year-old female driver from Oak Grove was stopped in her 2019 Kia Optima, waiting to make a left-hand turn. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. The Kia was able to be driven from the scene, while the Dodge was towed by Ron’s Tow due to damage sustained in the crash.

No additional details have been released at this time, and the crash remains under investigation.
We wish a full and swift recovery to the woman injured in this collision.
Rear-End Crashes and Intersection Safety in Missouri
Thursday’s crash on MO-F at Al Gossett Rd is a reminder of how quickly rear-end collisions can occur, particularly near intersections or when vehicles are slowing to make turns. These types of crashes often result from distracted driving or following too closely—conditions that are preventable with attentive, defensive driving.
In this case, a teen driver was safely stopped and waiting to turn when another vehicle failed to reduce speed in time. While rear-end crashes are common, they can still result in injuries and lasting impacts for those involved, particularly when vehicles are traveling at rural highway speeds.
Roads like MO-F in Jackson County are frequently used by both local traffic and commuters, and visibility or sudden slowdowns can create risks for drivers not prepared to stop. Intersections without turn lanes or warning signals increase those risks even more.
It’s also important to recognize that injury severity is not always immediately apparent following a collision. Even minor injuries can evolve into more serious conditions if untreated. Early medical care and proper documentation can make a significant difference during the recovery process.
Rear-end accidents are often straightforward when determining fault, but the recovery process can still be stressful and complicated—especially when medical bills, time off work, or insurance concerns arise.
