Jasper, MO – Crash With Injuries at MO-96 & Co Rd 50, 1 Mile West of Avilla

September 12, 2025

Jasper, MO (September 12, 2025) – A traffic collision with injuries was reported at the intersection of MO-96 and County Road 50, located one mile west of Avilla, at approximately 6:00 p.m. Thursday. The crash involved two vehicles, a 2006 Chrysler 300 and a 1995 Ford F-350. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene by Schrader’s Towing in Carthage, MO.

The 25-year-old male driver of the Chrysler 300, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO via private conveyance. Fortunately, the 72-year-old male driver of the Ford F-350, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, did not report injuries at the scene.

According to initial reports, Vehicle 1, the Ford F-350, failed to yield to the Chrysler 300. As a result, the Chrysler struck the Ford, causing both vehicles to be towed away. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the incident.

We extend our thoughts to those affected by this incident and wish them a full recovery.

Traffic Collisions in Missouri

Incidents like the one near Avilla highlight the importance of safe driving practices, especially when approaching intersections. Missouri roads, particularly rural highways like MO-96, can present challenges for drivers, especially when visibility is limited or when traffic flows at higher speeds.

The failure to yield, as seen in this case, is a common factor in many collisions and can lead to serious consequences. Drivers are encouraged to stay vigilant at all intersections, always yielding when required, and being cautious when crossing lanes or turning. In rural areas, where traffic can be lighter but still fast-moving, it’s critical to be mindful of other vehicles on the road.

To improve safety, drivers should ensure they always follow road signs and signals, use their seatbelts, and avoid distractions. Collisions like this serve as reminders of the unpredictable nature of driving and the need to stay alert at all times. Law enforcement continues to focus on preventing accidents caused by failure to yield, speeding, and other driving errors.
