Car Accidents in West Virginia
Accidents on highways like Route 9 can be particularly dangerous due to higher travel speeds and heavier traffic volumes. According to the West Virginia Department of Transportation, collisions on rural highways often result in more severe injuries compared to crashes on local roads. Contributing factors can include speeding, distracted driving, fatigue, and unsafe lane changes.
When injury crashes occur, victims may face medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and time away from work. West Virginia law allows those injured due to another driver’s negligence to pursue compensation for these losses. Prompt medical attention, thorough documentation, and professional guidance can help protect a victim’s rights.
Local safety officials encourage drivers to maintain safe speeds, allow adequate following distances, and stay alert — particularly in areas near interchanges and exits, such as the Kearneysville area.
