Johnson County, MO (August 8, 2025) – A rear-end collision along MO-13 in Johnson County left one woman injured on Wednesday evening after two southbound vehicles were involved in a crash near a private driveway. The incident occurred at approximately 5:13 p.m., just outside of the Warrensburg area, and prompted an on-scene response from EMS and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash unfolded when a Chevrolet Colorado driven by a 24-year-old man from Kansas City slowed to turn into a private drive. A Ford Focus, traveling behind the pickup, failed to stop in time and struck the rear of the vehicle. The impact caused significant damage to the Ford Focus, which had to be towed from the scene by Tip Top Towing. The Chevrolet Colorado sustained only minor damage and was able to be driven away.
A 62-year-old female passenger in the Ford Focus, from Clinton, sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene by Johnson County Ambulance District personnel. The 75-year-old driver of the Focus was reportedly uninjured. The driver of the Chevrolet was also not hurt, despite not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.
Traffic was temporarily slowed in the area while first responders assisted those involved and worked to clear the roadway. The incident remains under investigation by Trooper S. L. Edwards of Troop A.
We hope for a smooth recovery for the injured passenger and extend our thoughts to all those involved in the collision.
Rear-End Collisions in Missouri
Rear-end crashes remain one of the most frequently reported types of collisions on Missouri roads, especially along state highways like MO-13. In this case, the collision resulted from a failure to stop in time as a vehicle attempted to turn into a private drive, an all-too-common situation that often leads to injuries, especially for vehicle occupants in smaller or lower-profile vehicles.
MO-13 is a major thoroughfare in Johnson County, and while traffic typically flows steadily, turns onto driveways or secondary roads can create unexpected slowdowns. When drivers aren’t fully attentive, these scenarios can result in sudden impact and damage. The Ford Focus involved in this crash sustained significant rear-end damage, underscoring how quickly such incidents can escalate even at moderate speeds.
Although only one person was reported injured in this instance, rear-end collisions often cause neck, back, or head injuries that may not be immediately apparent. Quick medical evaluation, like the on-scene treatment provided in this case, plays a key role in ensuring that injuries are addressed early.
For crash victims, even minor injuries can create long-term consequences, including follow-up medical visits and financial strain. Understanding your options and accessing support is essential when recovering from an accident.
