Kalamazoo, MI (August 9, 2025) – A tragic crash early Saturday morning, August 9, on Riverview Drive and E. Paterson Street in Kalamazoo resulted in the death of a 24-year-old Kalamazoo man. The collision occurred around 2:00 AM, involving two vehicles, both of which sustained heavy damage.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found one of the vehicles off the roadway, with a 24-year-old male trapped inside. The car had smoke and fire coming from underneath, prompting responders to extinguish the fire and pull the man from the wreckage. Despite their efforts, the man’s injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released, pending family notification.
The other vehicle involved in the crash was found unoccupied when emergency responders arrived. Police have not yet located the individuals who were in the second vehicle, but they suspect alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the crash.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) continues to investigate the incident, with authorities working to identify and locate the occupants of the second vehicle.
