LaPorte County, IN (September 21, 2025) – A 29-year-old man was killed Friday in a collision between a bicycle and a commercial vehicle in rural LaPorte County. The fatal incident occurred just before noon at the intersection of State Road 39 and County Road 900 North.
Authorities identified the victim as Mason Anderson of Chicago. According to investigators, Anderson was riding with a group of cyclists traveling south on the shoulder of SR 39 when a commercial vehicle began to pass them using the left lane. At the same time, Anderson attempted to make a left turn onto CR 900 North, crossing into the vehicle’s path.
Despite efforts by the driver to avoid the crash, Anderson struck the trailer portion of the commercial vehicle. Emergency responders arrived quickly but pronounced Anderson deceased at the scene.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash. No further information about the driver or the commercial vehicle has been released.
