Las Vegas, NV (September 4, 2025) – A tragic accident claimed the life of a 58-year-old Las Vegas man Tuesday evening after a crash on Charleston Blvd near Heavenly Hills Ct, close to Durango Dr. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred just before 7:30 p.m. when the man, a wheelchair user, attempted to cross Charleston outside of a marked crosswalk.
Police reported that the man entered the path of a 22-year-old driving a Nissan Sentra. The driver pulled over immediately following the collision and remained at the scene. Authorities noted that he showed no signs of impairment. Emergency medical services transported the pedestrian to UMC Trauma, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.
The incident marks the 109th traffic-related fatality within Metro’s jurisdiction in 2025. Charleston Blvd was partially restricted while police conducted on-site investigations and documented evidence. The Collision Investigation Section of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the man who lost his life in this devastating accident.
Pedestrian Accidents in Nevada
Pedestrian crashes in Las Vegas, like the fatal collision on Charleston Blvd and Heavenly Hills Ct, highlight the vulnerability of individuals traveling outside vehicles, particularly in areas with heavy traffic. Charleston Blvd is one of the city’s busiest east-west corridors, carrying large volumes of cars, buses, and commercial traffic. Crossing outside of designated areas significantly increases the risk of accidents, as drivers have less time to react.
Sadly, Nevada continues to see a troubling number of pedestrian fatalities each year, with Las Vegas consistently accounting for the majority of those cases. Even with ongoing safety campaigns and infrastructure improvements, pedestrian crashes often occur at night, in poorly lit areas, or when individuals cross mid-block instead of at designated intersections.
For wheelchair users and others with mobility challenges, crossing wide, high-speed roads like Charleston can be especially dangerous. These incidents underline the need for safer crossing options, improved lighting, and stronger driver awareness in high-traffic corridors.
The aftermath of pedestrian accidents is devastating for families, who must navigate sudden loss, emotional trauma, and often financial strain. Law enforcement and city leaders continue urging both drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution—drivers by remaining alert in busy corridors and pedestrians by using crosswalks and signals wherever possible.
