Rollover Crash Risks in Maine
Rollover crashes, such as the one at Carl Broggi Hwy and Center Rd, are among the most dangerous types of vehicle accidents due to the high potential for serious injury or ejection. According to Maine crash data, rural intersections with higher speed limits can be particularly prone to rollovers when collisions occur.
Contributing factors often include excessive speed, overcorrection, abrupt lane changes, or striking another vehicle at an angle. Larger vehicles such as SUVs and pickups have a higher center of gravity, which can increase rollover risk in certain conditions.
To reduce rollover crash risks, safety experts recommend slowing down when approaching intersections, maintaining proper lane discipline, and ensuring that all passengers — especially children — are secured with appropriate restraints. Roadway improvements, such as enhanced signage and speed control measures, can also help prevent severe crashes in rural communities.
