Lee County, VA (September 22, 2025) – A devastating multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Route 58 and Burning Well Road on Sunday afternoon claimed the life of one woman and left three other individuals, including a child, seriously injured.
Virginia State Police responded to the scene shortly after 2:12 PM on September 21. According to initial findings, a Nissan SUV was traveling westbound on Route 58 when a 2017 Lincoln pulled into the intersection from a stop sign. The Nissan was reportedly unable to avoid the Lincoln, leading to a violent collision at the crossroads.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as 61-year-old Deborah Wires of Rose Hill, Virginia, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries. A 7-year-old passenger in the same vehicle suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for advanced treatment.
Both the driver and a passenger in the Lincoln were also seriously hurt and transported to local hospitals. Their current conditions have not yet been released to the public.
The cause of the crash remains under active investigation by the Virginia State Police.
