Their current condition has not been released.

Head-On Collisions in South Carolina
Head-on crashes, like the one that occurred on Old Cherokee Rd, are among the deadliest types of accidents on South Carolina’s roadways. They often occur when a driver veers out of their lane, sometimes due to distraction, impairment, fatigue, or loss of vehicle control. The combined speed of two vehicles traveling directly toward one another results in extreme impact forces, frequently causing fatalities or severe injuries.
In Lexington County, growing residential development has increased traffic on roads such as Old Cherokee Rd, which still retains more rural roadway characteristics. Narrow lanes, limited lighting, and high speeds can heighten crash risks, especially at night. The tragic loss of life in this case also underscores the importance of seatbelt use, which significantly improves survival rates in serious collisions.
For survivors of head-on crashes, the recovery process can be long and overwhelming. Victims often face extensive medical treatment, ongoing rehabilitation, and financial challenges tied to lost wages and mounting expenses. Families of those killed in such crashes are left to cope with grief while seeking answers and support.
As the investigation into Saturday night’s crash continues, it serves as a sobering reminder of the devastating consequences that can unfold in seconds on local roads. Safety awareness, seatbelt use, and caution in late-night driving are critical in preventing similar tragedies.
