Winning Trials since 1979

Lincoln County, MO (August 14, 2025) – A crash involving two vehicles on MO-79 just north of Route P sent one driver to the hospital Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 4:25 p.m. and involved a mechanical failure that triggered the collision.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash unfolded when a 2007 Ford Focus experienced a mechanical issue and veered off the right side of the northbound roadway. A second vehicle, a 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, then collided with the disabled Ford, pushing the Zephyr off the left side of the road.

The driver of the Ford Focus, a 55-year-old woman from Elsberry, MO, sustained moderate injuries in the crash. She was properly restrained and was transported to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis by Lincoln County EMS for further care.

The driver of the Lincoln Zephyr, a 28-year-old woman from Moscow Mills, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash but did not report injuries at the scene. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed by Jackson’s.

As of now, investigators are reviewing the nature of the mechanical failure that led to the Ford’s loss of control. No citations have been issued, and the case remains under review.

We wish the injured driver a full and swift recovery.

Mechanical Failure and Highway Collisions in Missouri

Mechanical issues are often an overlooked but dangerous factor in roadway collisions, especially when they occur at high speeds or on two-lane highways like MO-79. The crash north of Route P in Lincoln County is a stark reminder that even well-maintained vehicles can suffer sudden malfunctions—putting drivers and those around them at serious risk.

When a vehicle unexpectedly leaves the roadway, nearby drivers may have only seconds to react. In this case, the Lincoln Zephyr struck the disabled Ford shortly after it exited the road, highlighting how quickly such events can unfold. In narrow-lane areas or rural corridors without shoulders, there is little margin for error.

Beyond the immediate injuries and property damage, victims of crashes involving mechanical failure often face complex recovery paths. Insurance complications, repair investigations, and questions of vehicle liability can all impact how a person moves forward after such an incident.

Missouri transportation officials encourage drivers to perform regular maintenance checks and respond promptly to warning lights or signs of performance issues. However, not all failures can be predicted—making defensive driving and seatbelt use critical for safety.

If you or someone you love has been injured in a crash involving vehicle malfunction or roadside hazards, seeking help promptly can ensure that you get the care and support you need.
