Lincoln County, MO (May 14, 2025) – A rear-end collision on Route Y east of Route W injured two people Monday evening in rural Lincoln County. The crash occurred at approximately 7:55 p.m. on May 12 and was investigated by Trooper N.A. Cockrum of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
According to the crash report, both vehicles were traveling westbound on Route Y when a 2016 Nissan Rogue, driven by a 39-year-old woman from Moscow Mills, began slowing to make a left turn into a private driveway. A 2011 Ford F-350, driven by a 36-year-old man from Foley, failed to reduce speed in time and struck the rear of the Nissan.
The impact sent the Rogue off the left side of the road and resulted in total damage to the vehicle. It was towed by B and B Towing. The F-350 sustained moderate damage but was driven from the scene.
Injuries and Medical Response:
- The 39-year-old female driver of the Nissan and her 18-year-old male passenger, both from Moscow Mills, suffered injuries.
- Both were transported by Lincoln County Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital Lincoln for treatment.
- All individuals involved were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by Officer A. Palislamovic. The crash remains under review.
We extend our wishes for a swift recovery to the injured parties.
Rear-End Collisions and Turn-Related Crashes in Missouri
Crashes involving vehicles slowing to turn—like this one on Route Y—are a frequent hazard on rural Missouri roads where turning lanes or shoulders may be limited. Drivers who fail to anticipate slowing traffic ahead, especially in low-light conditions or unfamiliar areas, can cause high-impact rear-end collisions.
Rear-end crashes often result from driver inattention, speeding, or tailgating, all of which can significantly reduce reaction time. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, rear-end impacts account for a large share of injury crashes across the state, especially in two-lane rural settings where road geometry can limit visibility.
Although the injuries in this incident were reported as minor, rear-end collisions can lead to lasting musculoskeletal or spinal injuries, particularly when the struck vehicle is pushed off the road or suffers significant structural damage, as was the case here.
Even with proper restraint use—reported for all involved—victims may experience delayed symptoms or require follow-up care for pain or mobility issues.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a rear-end crash, accessing the right care and support quickly is essential.
