Lincoln, NE (September 5, 2025) – A 32-year-old man was injured Thursday morning in a collision involving a motorcycle and a car at the intersection of South 44th Street and A Street, according to Lincoln Fire and Rescue.
The crash was reported just before 8:00 a.m. and involved a white Toyota Corolla and a motorcycle. Emergency dispatch assigned Engine 3 and Medic 3 to respond under a Delta-level alert in Zone 161, indicating a potentially serious injury. The injured motorcyclist was conscious and breathing but suffered a leg injury that required immediate medical attention.
Lincoln Police Department also responded to assist with traffic control and investigation. Although the vehicles sustained only minor damage, the nature of motorcycle-related injuries often results in greater risk due to the rider’s lack of external protection.
First responders evaluated the victim at the scene, and additional updates on his condition are pending. Traffic was temporarily managed and partially blocked while crews worked to assist the injured rider and secure the area.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash.
We extend our support to the injured man and hope for his full and swift recovery.
Motorcycle Collisions in Lincoln, Nebraska
Motorcycle crashes—especially those involving passenger vehicles at intersections—can result in serious injuries, even when damage to the vehicles appears minimal. In this case, a 32-year-old rider was injured at S 44th and A St, a busy intersection in east-central Lincoln where multiple lanes and turn points increase the risk of driver misjudgment.
Leg injuries are among the most common outcomes in motorcycle crashes, typically caused by impact with the vehicle or road surface. While the rider in this incident was fortunate to remain conscious and alert, further evaluation will likely be necessary to rule out fractures or deep tissue trauma.
Intersections like S 44th and A St require heightened awareness from all drivers, as motorcycles are more difficult to spot—especially during lane changes or left-hand turns. Motorists are reminded to check blind spots, use turn signals, and give motorcyclists extra space when merging or crossing intersections.
For injured riders, the road to recovery can be physically and emotionally taxing. Beyond the pain, there may be lost work time, mounting medical expenses, and ongoing therapy or rehabilitation. Knowing your rights and having access to experienced professionals can make a significant difference.
