Lindale, TX (September 5, 2025) – A tragic mobile home fire early Thursday morning claimed the life of a local woman in Lindale. Emergency crews were dispatched to 19984 FM 14 around 4:20 a.m.
According to officials from the Smith County Fire Marshal’s Office, the 911 call was placed by the homeowner herself, reporting that her mobile home was ablaze. Firefighters from Red Springs, Winona, and Lindale Fire Departments responded to the call, working together in an attempt to rescue the resident.
Despite valiant rescue efforts, crews later discovered the body of the occupant inside the mobile home. She has been identified as 67-year-old Sherry Denise Jones. Authorities have confirmed that no other individuals were believed to be inside at the time of the fire.
Smith County Emergency Services District 2 confirmed that an autopsy has been ordered. The investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing and is being led by Smith County Fire Marshal Chad Hogue.
