Little River, SC (January 18, 2026) – A two-alarm house fire broke out in the Little River area of Horry County, leaving one person critically injured and prompting a multi-agency emergency response.
Horry County Fire Rescue responded to the blaze in the 1000 block of Grissett Road, where reports indicated possible entrapment inside the residence. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a heavily involved structure and immediately began rescue and suppression efforts.
One individual was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. A second person declined hospital transport after signing a medical waiver at the scene.
The residence sustained extensive fire damage. Assisting in the response were the Horry County Police Department, South Carolina Highway Patrol, and the Calabash Fire Department.
Fire officials confirmed that the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
