Long County, GA (January 17, 2026) – Four people were injured Friday evening in a serious rollover crash on State Route 57 near mile marker 28, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The accident occurred around 6:23 p.m. on January 16 when the driver of a Nissan Pathfinder swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting an animal and lost control of the vehicle.
The SUV overturned off the roadway, trapping several occupants inside. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and worked to extricate those injured from the vehicle. Among the injured were the adult male driver, two adult passengers, and one juvenile passenger. All four individuals sustained injuries as a result of the crash, though the extent of those injuries has not been released.
The collision led to a full closure of SR 57 from 6:55 p.m. until 10:10 p.m. as crews conducted rescue operations, cleared the wreckage, and launched an investigation into the incident.
Troopers later determined that the driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended license and has since been charged accordingly. The crash remains under active investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
