Los Angeles, CA (September 11, 2025) – A fatal multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 5 North at the California State Route 134 connector claimed at least one life Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Altadena division.
Emergency responders from Los Angeles Fire and Rescue, including paramedics and traffic officers, rushed to the scene shortly after 1:42 p.m. following reports of a severe crash near the split between CA-134 East and West connectors. Upon arrival, they found significant vehicle damage and at least one individual suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Despite immediate aid from medics, one person was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not yet released the name of the deceased pending next-of-kin notification. It remains unclear how many vehicles were involved, though preliminary dispatch notes indicated the crash occurred near a high-speed connector ramp—an area known for complex merges and limited reaction time.
The connector ramps and portions of I-5 North were temporarily closed while officers conducted a full scene investigation. The cause of the collision is still under review, and no further details have been confirmed about other potential injuries or contributing factors.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life in this crash.
