Los Angeles, CA (August 25, 2025) – A high-speed multi-vehicle collision late Sunday night on westbound State Route 134 just east of the Cahuenga Blvd off-ramp left one individual with injuries requiring hospital care. The crash involved at least four vehicles and brought westbound traffic to a standstill for an extended period.
Initial reports indicate that a blue Mercedes-Benz sedan, reportedly traveling at high speed, collided with a tan sedan and triggered a chain reaction involving two other vehicles, including a blue BMW. One of the vehicles may have briefly flipped during the crash but ultimately landed upright. Debris and damaged cars were scattered across the middle and slow lanes, with at least one vehicle blocking the right shoulder.
At 11:45 PM, officers from California Highway Patrol halted all lanes of westbound SR-134 to secure the scene and allow emergency crews to access the wreckage safely. Fire and medical personnel arrived shortly thereafter and assessed multiple individuals at the scene. One person was transported to Holy Cross Medical Center with what were described as minor injuries.
Two separate towing companies were dispatched to the area, with flatbed trucks called to remove heavily damaged vehicles. By 12:26 AM, Monterey Tow confirmed clearance of at least one vehicle, and traffic began to gradually resume.
The exact cause of the crash is under investigation. Authorities have not yet disclosed whether impairment, distraction, or reckless driving played a role, though high speeds were cited as a contributing factor.

Freeway Pileups in Los Angeles County
Sunday night’s crash on westbound SR-134 serves as a troubling reminder of how quickly freeway conditions can turn dangerous—especially when speeding is involved. The transition areas near interchanges like Cahuenga Blvd are common sites for late-night collisions, as drivers either accelerate to exit or adjust lanes at high speeds. These quick maneuvers, particularly when visibility is reduced, leave little room for error.
In this case, a speeding vehicle reportedly collided with another sedan, setting off a four-vehicle pileup that left debris strewn across multiple lanes. Incidents like this are not only hazardous for those directly involved, but also for approaching motorists and emergency responders navigating unpredictable wreckage scenes.
Los Angeles County continues to report a high volume of multi-car crashes on major freeways such as SR-134, I-5, and I-405—particularly during nighttime hours. Factors such as lane changes at speed, reduced reaction time, and distracted driving all contribute to these complex collisions.
When multi-vehicle accidents occur, even a minor misjudgment can trigger a cascade of impacts. These crashes are often difficult to investigate due to conflicting accounts and overlapping vehicle damage. Gathering witness statements, surveillance footage, and vehicle telemetry data becomes essential in establishing liability and understanding what went wrong.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a multi-vehicle freeway crash, the recovery process may involve more than just physical healing. Navigating insurance claims, understanding legal rights, and accessing emotional support are equally important steps toward resolution.
