Los Angeles, CA (September 20, 2025) – Several people, including two 1-year-old children, were injured Friday morning when a vehicle struck a group of pedestrians near the intersection of West Alpine Street and Alameda Street in the Chinatown neighborhood of Los Angeles. The crash occurred at approximately 11:47 a.m., drawing a large emergency response from Los Angeles Fire Department and LAPD units.
A woman driving a black SUV reportedly slammed into a group of pedestrians for reasons that remain under investigation. The impact caused injuries to five individuals—four of whom required hospitalization. One person at the scene declined medical transport.
According to authorities, three of the hospitalized victims were occupants of the SUV, including the twin toddlers. The conditions of all injured parties remain unknown at this time. First responders acted quickly to triage and transport the injured from the densely populated Chinatown intersection, which is surrounded by local shops and cultural centers.
The incident was initially reported as a hit-and-run. However, the driver was apprehended just a block away from the crash scene and taken into custody by LAPD officers. No additional details regarding charges or the driver’s condition have been released.
Officials are continuing their investigation to determine what led to the crash, including whether impairment, medical distress, or mechanical failure played a role.
