Lost Hills, CA (August 18, 2025) – Four people were injured in a serious two-vehicle rollover crash early Saturday morning on eastbound State Route 46 just east of Kecks Rd, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The collision occurred at approximately 12:11 a.m. and involved a gray SUV and a trailer. The SUV overturned and landed approximately 60 feet off the roadway, resulting in multiple victims being hurt. Among the injured was a woman who became pinned beneath the vehicle at the hip, requiring an urgent rescue by fire crews.
Emergency medical responders arrived quickly and worked to extricate those trapped inside the wreckage. CHP dispatch confirmed that four occupants sustained injuries, with at least one listed in critical condition. Fire personnel and Caltrans crews coordinated lane closures and scene stabilization throughout the early morning hours.
The eastbound side of SR-46 was fully shut down during rescue and investigation efforts. A significant amount of roadside debris—furniture and appliances—was also noted at the location, although it’s unclear whether these objects contributed to the crash.
Towing and recovery teams used heavy-duty equipment to retrieve the damaged vehicles and assist in re-securing the area. Efforts were also made to repair a chain-link fence damaged during the rollover.
An investigation remains ongoing to determine what led to the crash, including potential factors such as speed, distraction, vehicle condition, or environmental hazards.
We send our sincere wishes of recovery to all four individuals injured in this devastating incident.
SR-46 Crashes and Regional Safety Concerns
State Route 46 is widely recognized as one of Central California’s more dangerous rural highways. Its long, straight stretches and lack of barriers make it prone to high-speed collisions and rollovers, especially during early morning or overnight travel hours. The area east of Kecks Rd has been the site of multiple serious crashes in recent years.
Rollover accidents—like the one early Saturday—often result in severe injuries due to occupant ejection, vehicle crushing, or prolonged entrapment. In cases where trailers are involved, the risk of instability or detachment adds further danger.
Victims of these incidents may face long recovery periods, emergency surgeries, and extended hospital stays. Beyond the physical trauma, the emotional and financial strain can be lasting—particularly for those with limited access to recovery support.
CHP officials continue to examine whether roadway debris or other environmental factors played a direct role in this crash. Witness accounts and evidence collected on-site will be critical in determining the full sequence of events.
