Hit-and-Run Accidents Involving Children in Kentucky
Hit-and-run collisions are among the most devastating types of traffic incidents, especially when they involve children. In cases like Tuesday’s near I-264, the urgency of medical response is compounded by the trauma of a driver fleeing the scene—leaving a child injured and vulnerable.
Accidents involving young pedestrians or passengers are often preventable. Children are less visible to drivers, particularly in early morning hours, and may cross streets unexpectedly or move unpredictably in high-traffic areas. Drivers who fail to remain on scene not only break the law but increase the risk of delayed care for victims.
Louisville law enforcement continues to prioritize investigations into hit-and-run crashes, and public awareness campaigns urge all motorists to slow down in residential zones, school areas, and highway merge points where visibility is limited.
