Louisville, KY (January 28, 2026) – A 15-year-old girl sustained critical injuries in a motor vehicle accident on January 27 and was flown by air medical transport to University of Louisville Hospital. The teen was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and had to be extricated from the vehicle following the crash.
Medical personnel confirmed that the girl was in a deteriorated state at the scene, described as obtunded for much of the response. She was intubated after resuscitation efforts and received multiple blood transfusions while en route by helicopter. A pelvic binder was applied, and her pupils remained equal during flight, indicating active stabilization efforts.
The specific location of the crash that led to the airlift was not disclosed in full, though it is believed to have occurred within the Louisville area. Emergency staff at the receiving hospital prepared trauma room resources in advance to continue critical care upon arrival.
We extend our deepest support to the injured teen and her loved ones during this extremely difficult time and hope for her full recovery.
