Lubbock County, TX (January 7, 2025) – Authorities have identified one person who died and two others who were injured in a tragic two-vehicle collision Saturday night in south Lubbock County. The crash occurred around 9:35 PM on U.S. Highway 87 near County Rd 7150.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 36-year-old Fabian Vitolas of New Home was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche westbound on CR 7150 when he reportedly disregarded a stop sign at the intersection with U.S. 87. His vehicle continued onto the highway, where it was struck on the driver’s side by a northbound 2017 Dodge Durango.
Fabian Vitolas was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 22-year-old Christopher Dunn of Carlsbad, New Mexico, sustained serious injuries and was transported to University Medical Center for treatment. Dunn was reported to have been wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Dodge Durango, 40-year-old Amanda Rodriguez of Lubbock, also sustained injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt and was treated at University Medical Center for minor injuries.
