Malden, MA (January 16, 2026) – A serious crash early on Thursday morning in a residential Malden neighborhood left two people injured and caused significant damage, including downed utility poles and a widespread power outage. The crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Pearl St, prompting a swift response from emergency personnel.
Authorities identified the driver as Tevin Tyrell Lattime, a local Malden resident. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision. Police have stated that impairment is suspected, and charges are currently pending as the investigation continues.
A male passenger in the vehicle was also injured in the crash but declined medical transport and was released at the scene. The vehicle involved reportedly struck two utility poles and damaged both a nearby home and a second vehicle. The force of the impact caused power disruptions throughout the neighborhood, including to Stock Pot Malden, a commercial kitchen operating on the same street.
Crews have since been working to restore power and clear debris, while investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
