Manchester, CT (January 17, 2026) – A pedestrian sustained a serious leg injury after being struck by a tractor trailer on I-84 West near Exit 59 in Manchester on the morning of January 16, according to Connecticut State Police.
The incident was first reported around 8:02 a.m. when Troop H received multiple 911 calls regarding a person lying in the roadway. Responding troopers arrived on scene and confirmed that a pedestrian had been hit by a tractor trailer near the East Hartford border. Upon assessment, the victim was found conscious and alert but suffering from a significant leg injury.
Emergency medical personnel treated the individual at the scene before transport. The driver of the tractor trailer remained on location and cooperated with authorities throughout the response. No additional vehicles were involved in the incident.
As a result of the crash, westbound lanes of I-84 were shut down at Exit 59, with traffic rerouted using the HOV lane to clear the area. The investigation remains ongoing.
