Allegheny County, PA (January 17, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle crash involving a tanker truck, tractor trailer, and a van shut down northbound lanes of Interstate 79 Friday morning in Marshall Township. According to Pennsylvania State Police, three people were hospitalized following the incident.
The crash occurred when a southbound tanker truck clipped a tractor trailer that was also traveling south on I-79. The impact caused the tractor trailer to cross the median and enter the northbound lanes, where it reportedly struck a van head-on.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, and two occupants of the van, along with the driver of the tractor trailer, were transported to a nearby hospital. The severity of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.
The collision prompted a full closure of I-79 northbound at the Warrendale interchange while responders worked to manage the scene and begin an investigation. State police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Our thoughts are with those injured, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
