Martinez, CA – Mahdi Khorram Killed in Construction Zone Accident on Hwy 4

Contra Costa County, CA (September 19, 2025) – A Caltrans worker, 39-year-old Mahdi Khorram, was killed early Wednesday morning after being struck by a construction vehicle in a work zone on Hwy 4 in Martinez. The fatal incident occurred around 1:30 a.m., according to Caltrans officials.

Khorram was working in an active construction zone when he was hit by an asphalt truck operating within the site. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, but Khorram tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities have not released further details about the events leading up to the collision, and an investigation is underway to determine what factors contributed to the fatal incident.
