Mead, CO (May 29, 2025) – A serious crash involving two semi-trucks has led to major traffic disruptions along Interstate 25 near Mead. The incident occurred early Thursday morning at approximately 3:16 a.m. near mile marker 247 and has resulted in the full closure of both northbound and southbound lanes.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash began when a southbound Freightliner carrying office supplies struck a jersey barrier on the right shoulder, then veered left and hit the median barrier. The vehicle continued into the northbound lanes, where it collided with another semi-truck hauling gasoline.
After the impact, the Freightliner overturned and came to rest on its side, blocking all lanes of travel in both directions. Emergency crews, including CDOT and the CSP Hazmat Unit, were dispatched to the scene to manage the wreckage, address the potential fuel hazard, and begin cleanup operations.
One driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. There were no additional injury reports as of this writing.
