Intersection Accidents in Memphis
Busy intersections like Winchester Rd and Kirby Pkwy are common locations for injury-causing accidents in Memphis. High traffic volumes, frequent lane changes, and turning movements can increase the risk of collisions. According to the Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security, intersection-related crashes account for a significant portion of urban roadway injuries each year.
Many intersection collisions involve side-impact crashes, which can be especially dangerous due to the limited protection offered by vehicle doors. Factors such as distracted driving, speeding, and failure to yield the right of way are among the most common contributors to these incidents.
Local traffic safety officials encourage drivers to remain alert, obey all traffic signals, and slow down when approaching intersections. In addition, Memphis continues to invest in infrastructure improvements, such as better signal timing and clearer signage, to reduce accident rates and improve overall road safety.
