Menahga, MN (January 17, 2026) – An injury crash involving three vehicles, including a semi-truck and two SUVs, occurred on Highway 71 at 11th Street SE in Menahga, prompting a large emergency response and hospital transport for one injured driver.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 6:01 p.m. when a southbound Volvo semi tractor collided with two northbound vehicles—a 2011 Chevy Traverse and a 2018 Ford Explorer. The impact caused significant damage, and emergency units from Menahga Police, Sebeka Police, Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, Menahga Fire and First Responders, and Becker County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene.
The driver of the Chevy Traverse, identified as 46-year-old Megan Elizabeth Burkhammer of Garfield, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Park Rapids Hospital for treatment. A 14-year-old passenger in her vehicle was reportedly unharmed. The driver and infant passenger in the Ford Explorer, both from Menahga, were also not injured.
The Volvo semi was operated by 37-year-old Jamal Said Mohamed of Minneapolis. He was reportedly wearing his seat belt and was not injured in the crash.
Investigators confirmed that all occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision. Alcohol was not a factor. The crash remains under review as officials work to determine contributing circumstances.
