Winning Trials since 1979

Mesa, AZ (August 12, 2025) – A collision on Ironwood Rd Monday afternoon left both a young child and an adult injured. The crash involved at least two vehicles, including a white car and a Jeep, and occurred near the intersection of Thompson St and Ironwood Rd. Mesa Fire and Rescue, along with units from Gilbert Fire and Queen Creek Fire, responded to the scene to assist the victims.

A 52-year-old woman sustained minor cuts and scratches and was evaluated at the scene. A three-year-old boy suffered chest pain and was transported by ambulance to Banner Baywood Medical Center for further treatment. Crews worked to safely assist occupants from the vehicles, including performing a door pop to gain access to one of the cars.

Traffic in the area was slowed as first responders completed their work and cleared the roadway. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.

Our thoughts are with the injured child and adult, and we wish them both a swift recovery.

Car Accidents in Arizona

Collisions involving children are especially concerning due to the increased risk of serious injury, even at lower speeds. Ironwood Rd is a busy thoroughfare in Mesa, with a mix of residential and commuter traffic that can lead to unpredictable driving conditions. Across Arizona, common causes of such accidents include distracted driving, speeding, and failing to yield at intersections or when merging.

When young passengers are involved, the proper use of child safety seats and restraints is critical in reducing injury severity. Safety officials encourage all drivers to remain alert, maintain safe speeds, and ensure that children are secured according to Arizona’s child passenger safety laws. Defensive driving, particularly in areas with frequent traffic flow changes, can help prevent incidents like Monday’s collision.
