Miller Co, MO (September 19, 2025) – A serious four-vehicle collision occurred Thursday morning on Missouri Route 52 westbound, just east of Admire Road. The crash happened at approximately 10:35 a.m. when a 2016 Ford F-550 began to skid and rear-ended a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado that was stopped in traffic. The impact caused a chain reaction, pushing the Silverado into a 2024 Genesis GV70, which then struck a 2017 Nissan Armada.
The Chevrolet Silverado was totaled, and its driver, a 69-year-old man from Stover, suffered serious injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt and was airlifted by MU Air Care to the University of Missouri Hospital. The Genesis driver, a 67-year-old man from Centerville, IA, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Miller County Ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. The Ford F-550 and Genesis GV70 were towed from the scene, while the Nissan Armada sustained only minor damage and was driven away.
Trooper M.A. Ebeling of Troop F investigated the crash with assistance from Sgt. A.W. Lawman, Cpl. B.J. Geier, Tpr. S.C. Latture, and Tpr. J.J. Wilt.
Our thoughts are with the injured drivers, and we hope for their full recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Collisions in Missouri
Thursday’s collision on MO-52 serves as a clear reminder of how quickly traffic conditions can turn dangerous on rural highways. When one vehicle fails to stop in time, especially a large truck or utility vehicle like the Ford F-550 in this crash, the force of impact often cascades through multiple vehicles. These chain-reaction crashes typically result in more extensive property damage and greater risk of injury, as seen here with both serious and moderate injuries requiring hospital care.
Missouri consistently reports a significant number of multi-vehicle accidents each year. Contributing factors often include distracted driving, following too closely, sudden stops, and high speeds. On two-lane highways such as Route 52, where traffic flow is frequently interrupted by vehicles slowing or stopping to turn, drivers must be prepared to react quickly. Unfortunately, when vehicles are following too closely or traveling too fast for conditions, the margin for error disappears.
Seat belt use is another critical factor highlighted by this crash. While one driver who was belted sustained only moderate injuries, the driver who was unrestrained suffered far more severe outcomes and required air transport. This stark difference underscores the life-saving importance of buckling up every trip, no matter how short.
Beyond the physical injuries, crashes like this disrupt the flow of traffic, delay emergency services, and create ripple effects for the broader community. Road closures and diversions not only inconvenience drivers but also heighten risks for secondary collisions as motorists attempt to navigate around blocked areas.
Local Accident Reports remind all drivers in Missouri to remain alert and exercise patience, particularly on rural roads where sudden stops are common. Slowing down, keeping safe distances, and wearing seat belts are simple but vital steps that can prevent tragedies.
