Millsboro, DE (September 14, 2025) – A deadly motorcycle crash occurred Saturday evening in Millsboro, claiming the life of a Pennsylvania man and injuring another individual. The collision happened around 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Dupont Blvd (US 113) and Centerview Dr, drawing a swift response from medics, aviation support, and local law enforcement.
Responders arrived to find a severely injured motorcyclist who had been ejected after colliding with a car. CPR was initiated at the scene, but despite resuscitation efforts, the rider was pronounced deceased. A second person sustained injuries and was transported for further evaluation. Aviation Trooper 2 was dispatched but later stood down as air transport was not required.
According to investigators, a Honda motorcycle was traveling northbound on Dupont Blvd when it approached the intersection at a red light. Witness accounts and preliminary findings suggest the motorcycle entered the intersection at high speed without stopping. At that moment, a Chevrolet Malibu proceeding westbound on Centerview Dr with a green light was struck on the driver’s side.
The rider, a 52-year-old man from York, PA, was wearing a DOT-certified helmet but died at the scene due to the force of the impact. His name is being withheld until family notification. The driver of the Malibu, a 21-year-old Millsboro resident, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash closed the intersection for over three hours while the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit from Troop 7 conducted an on-site investigation.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and wish the surviving individual a smooth recovery.
Motorcycle Collisions and Road Safety in Delaware
Saturday’s crash in Millsboro serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers that motorcyclists face on roadways across Delaware. Even when protective gear is worn, collisions involving motorcycles often result in catastrophic outcomes due to the lack of physical barriers between the rider and the point of impact.
Intersections like Dupont Blvd and Centerview Dr are particularly vulnerable points in the traffic network. With high-speed travel on highways like US 113 intersecting with slower-moving local streets, the potential for serious crashes increases—especially when traffic signals are ignored or visibility is compromised.
In this incident, speed and signal compliance appear to be central factors. Motorcycle operators are encouraged to remain vigilant at intersections, where timing and vehicle misjudgment are most likely to lead to tragedy. Likewise, education on defensive driving techniques and regular traffic enforcement can serve as critical tools in reducing fatal motorcycle crashes.
For communities like Millsboro, the emotional toll of these incidents is significant. Lives are forever changed—families grieve, and survivors face emotional and physical recovery. The importance of timely investigation and public safety outreach cannot be overstated.
