Milton, PA (August 11, 2025) – A tragic accident Saturday night in western Montour County left an 18-year-old Milton man dead after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle. The victim, Nathaniel Martin, was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force head injuries, according to Montour County Coroner Scott Lynn.
Martin was riding west on Route 254 when he entered the travel lane and was struck by a car driven by Susan Garthwaite of Watsontown around 8:40 p.m. The impact caused fatal injuries.
At the time of the crash, Martin was not wearing a helmet, and his bicycle lacked any lights or reflectors, the coroner confirmed. His brother, Neil Martin, who was riding alongside him, was not involved in the collision. The driver, Garthwaite, was uninjured.
State police have yet to release further details regarding the accident.
