Mitchell County, IA (August 27, 2025) – A tragic collision involving a train and an SUV claimed the life of a Mitchell County man Wednesday morning near Osage. The Iowa State Patrol confirmed that the crash occurred around 10:15 a.m. in the 3800 block of Indigo Avenue.
According to the crash report, a Ford Explorer was traveling north on Indigo Ave when it failed to yield at a railroad crossing. As the vehicle attempted to cross the tracks, a train struck the driver’s side of the SUV, resulting in a devastating impact.
The driver, identified as 62-year-old Kenneth Warrington of St. Ansgar, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. No additional injuries were reported.
