Mobile, AL (August 8, 2025) – A tragic crash on Wednesday night claimed the life of a Theodore man after he was struck by an SUV on Theodore Dawes Rd near Spanish Trail Dr. The incident occurred around 9:17 p.m. and involved a pedestrian and a single vehicle.
Authorities with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) confirmed that 71-year-old Dannie J. Palmer was walking along Theodore Dawes Rd when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Jeremy S. Saunders Jr., also of Theodore. The impact caused Palmer to suffer critical injuries.
Emergency responders quickly arrived on scene and transported Palmer to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Theodore Dawes Rd was partially closed for a period Wednesday night as ALEA officials began a thorough examination of the crash site. Investigators are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the collision, including visibility conditions and roadway lighting at the time of the incident.
