Montgomery Co, MD (January 15, 2026) – A devastating crash on Lockwood Drive near Burnt Mills Avenue claimed the life of a teenage girl and left two other passengers injured on January 14. The fatal incident occurred around 11:19 a.m., according to the Montgomery County Police Department.
Investigators say a white Lexus GS350 was traveling along Lockwood Drive when, for reasons still under investigation, it lost control, struck another vehicle, and then crashed into a utility pole. The impact caused catastrophic damage to the vehicle and its occupants.
A teenage female passenger in the Lexus was pronounced dead at the scene. A 20-year-old woman riding in the same vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. A third passenger, also female, was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The driver of the Lexus, identified as an 18-year-old male, sustained non-life-threatening injuries but was not hospitalized. The driver of the second vehicle involved in the initial impact was reportedly unharmed.
Montgomery County’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation and working to determine what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Officials have stated that more details, including the identity of the deceased, will be released once next of kin are notified.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the teen who lost her life, and we wish healing and strength to the injured passengers.
