Morongo Basin, CA (February 6, 2025) – A serious multi-vehicle collision occurred Monday morning in the Morongo Basin area, leaving one individual with major injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash took place at approximately 8:17 a.m. on Highway 247 near Mikiska Rd. CHP reported that Diego Figueroa, 35, of Riverside, was driving a 2021 Ford Bronco westbound on Mikiska Blvd at an unsafe speed. Figueroa failed to stop at the intersection, colliding with a 2019 Ford F150 that was pulling a Toyota 4Runner northbound on Old Woman Springs Rd.
The impact caused the vehicles to crash into a southbound 2007 Winnebago driven by Steven Long, 62, of Vista. Warren Fasching, 23, of Dewey, Arizona, who was driving the Ford F150, sustained major injuries and was flown to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The other two drivers, Figueroa and Long, were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
According to CHP, alcohol was not suspected to have contributed to the crash, and the incident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with Warren Fasching and the others affected by this accident.
Multi-Vehicle Accidents in California
Multi-vehicle collisions, like the one that occurred on Highway 247 in Morongo Basin, often lead to serious injuries due to the complexity and force of the impacts involved. High-speed intersections and failure to yield or stop at designated signals are frequent causes of such accidents in California.
The California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) reports a significant number of multi-vehicle collisions each year, with many resulting in severe or life-threatening injuries. When multiple vehicles are involved, determining fault can be complicated, often requiring thorough investigations to establish responsibility and liability.
Victims of these crashes may face extensive medical expenses, long recovery periods, and emotional distress. In cases involving serious injuries, such as those sustained by Warren Fasching, legal avenues may be pursued to seek compensation for medical costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a multi-vehicle accident, it is important to understand your rights and explore potential legal options.
