Pedestrian Accidents in New Jersey
Pedestrian incidents on major highways like the New Jersey Turnpike are rare but often result in severe or fatal outcomes due to the high speeds and heavy traffic volumes. The stretch between Exits 5 and 4 in Mount Laurel is a busy corridor for both commercial and passenger vehicles, making it a particularly dangerous environment for anyone outside of a vehicle. Even in emergencies, pedestrians on highways face extreme risk from passing traffic, limited lighting, and reduced driver reaction time.
In New Jersey, pedestrian fatalities often occur when individuals exit their vehicles after a breakdown or crash, highlighting the importance of staying inside the vehicle when possible and waiting for professional assistance. Roadside safety measures, such as moving the vehicle to the shoulder, activating hazard lights, and contacting law enforcement immediately, can help reduce these risks.
Local Accident Reports urges drivers and passengers to exercise extreme caution when outside their vehicles on highways and to seek safe, well-lit areas away from traffic whenever possible. If your family has been impacted by a fatal pedestrian accident, resources are available to help you navigate the legal process and connect with support services during this difficult time.
