New Castle, DE (August 7, 2025) – Three individuals were hospitalized following a motor vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 3:30 PM on Wednesday, August 6, on West Basin Road near Jay Drive in New Castle.
New Castle County Paramedics, along with units from Wilmington Manor Fire Company, Goodwill Fire Company, and the Delaware Air National Guard Fire Company, responded to the scene. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found two vehicles involved in the crash: a sedan and a minivan.
Among the injured was an approximately 80-year-old woman, an occupant of the sedan, who sustained serious injuries. She suffered trauma to her head and extremities, as well as possible internal injuries. Emergency personnel treated her at the scene before transporting her in serious condition aboard a Wilmington Manor ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.
Another woman, approximately 70 years old and also an occupant of the sedan, was transported by Goodwill Fire Company in stable condition. She sustained injuries to her extremities and was also evaluated for potential internal injuries.
A third individual, traveling in the minivan, was transported to Christiana Hospital by a basic life support ambulance. Details regarding this individual’s condition have not been disclosed.
At this time, authorities have not released additional information regarding the cause of the crash, but the investigation is ongoing.
