Delivery Vehicle Crashes and Suburban Roadway Safety in Chester County
Crashes involving commercial or delivery trucks—such as box trucks—are increasingly common in suburban areas like New Garden, where residential traffic mixes with commercial delivery routes. When larger vehicles collide with smaller passenger cars, the risk of injury rises significantly due to the size and weight disparity.
According to PennDOT, Chester County reported over 5,000 crashes in 2024, many occurring in rural or semi-rural townships. A growing number of those involved commercial vehicles making deliveries on narrow, shoulder-less roads like Thompson Rd.
Drivers in these areas are urged to exercise extra caution, especially near markets, residential driveways, and intersections where visibility may be limited. Road-sharing between passenger cars and commercial vehicles requires careful lane management, slower speeds, and reduced distractions.
For crash victims, medical care, legal assistance, and thorough incident documentation can all be vital steps in ensuring proper recovery and fair compensation—especially when commercial drivers or corporate-owned vehicles are involved.
