Rear-End Collisions on Missouri Interstates
Rear-end crashes are among the most common types of interstate collisions, particularly in high-traffic freight corridors like I-55 through southeastern Missouri. These incidents are often caused by following too closely, driver distraction, or sudden changes in speed—especially when large commercial vehicles are involved.
In this case, the Ford F-550 struck the rear of the International tractor-trailer. Despite both vehicles traveling in the same direction, the force of the impact was strong enough to total the Ford and result in injuries to its passenger. Fortunately, the injuries were reported as minor, but such crashes can easily escalate into more serious outcomes depending on speed and point of impact.
Large commercial vehicles, due to their size and mass, are less affected structurally in rear-end incidents, while smaller or medium-duty trucks like the Ford F-550 often absorb the majority of the damage. For passengers, this can mean whiplash, seatbelt-related injuries, or even more serious trauma depending on vehicle speed and seat location.
For those injured in these types of crashes, post-accident care can include hospital visits, insurance navigation, and, at times, long-term treatment. Understanding your rights and having access to support services makes a critical difference in recovery.
