Newport News, VA (September 15, 2025) – A young boy sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon at the intersection of 32nd Street and Marshall Avenue in Newport News.
First responders from Newport News Police, Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the scene at around 6:15 p.m. following reports that a 9-year-old child had been hit by a Jaguar. The child suffered a head injury and was bleeding when emergency personnel arrived. Paramedics provided immediate treatment on-site before transporting the boy for further medical evaluation.
The incident prompted the closure of the northbound lane near Madison Avenue as crews worked to secure the scene and assist the injured child. Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding the circumstances of the crash or the driver involved. The area surrounding Marshall Avenue is a busy residential and commercial zone, and pedestrian incidents have been a concern in this part of Newport News.
Officials are continuing to investigate the crash to determine liability and contributing factors.
