Newport News, VA (September 10, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision occurred early Wednesday morning near the entrance to the Naval Weapon Station at Jefferson Ave and Longfellow Rd. One person sustained a head injury after being rear-ended and was evaluated by emergency medical personnel at the scene.
The crash took place around 3:36 a.m., involving two vehicles that came to rest off the roadway in a nearby parking area. According to dispatch reports from Newport News Police and Fire, one of the vehicles was visibly smoking following the impact, prompting concerns about vehicle safety and potential fire hazards.
First responders quickly assessed the situation, confirming that the driver who was struck from behind reported head pain and required medical attention. The severity of the injury has not yet been disclosed, but EMS crews were on site to provide care. No entrapments were reported, and both vehicles remained on location during the initial investigation.
