Norfolk, VA (September 17, 2025) – A serious pedestrian crash involving a city-owned truck left an elderly woman critically injured Wednesday morning near W 47th St in Norfolk. According to Norfolk Police and Fire dispatch, the woman went into cardiac arrest after sustaining head and facial trauma at the scene.
The incident occurred just before 9:40 a.m. in a heavily trafficked area near Old Dominion University (ODU). Emergency units responded swiftly to reports that a city-operated vehicle had struck a pedestrian. Initial updates from dispatch indicated that the victim was bleeding from the mouth and in distress. Her condition deteriorated rapidly, and medics confirmed a transition to cardiac arrest before initiating advanced life-saving measures.
Medical crews, along with ODU police officers and traffic units, coordinated the emergency response while controlling the area to allow for rapid intervention. The woman was stabilized at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital under critical condition.
