North Hampton, NH (September 2, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 95 southbound in North Hampton left four individuals seriously injured Sunday evening and caused a full closure of the highway for several hours. The crash occurred around 5:10 p.m. on August 31 and involved three vehicles, including one that crossed into oncoming traffic.
According to a release from New Hampshire State Police, the crash began when a 2009 Toyota Avalon driven by 29-year-old Jaceline Miranda Gomes of New Bedford, MA, collided with a 2018 GMC Sierra operated by 33-year-old Anthony Crudale of Plaistow. The impact caused Gomes’ Avalon to cross the center median and enter the opposite lanes of southbound I-95, where it struck a 2019 Toyota Tacoma driven by 71-year-old Sandy Herbert of Newburyport, who had an adult passenger.
Both Herbert and Gomes sustained serious injuries, and a juvenile passenger inside the Avalon also suffered significant trauma. Herbert’s adult passenger was critically injured as well. Crudale was unhurt in the crash.
Emergency crews from multiple surrounding towns responded to the chaotic scene. North Hampton Fire Rescue, along with departments from Greenland, Hampton, Rye, Seabrook, Portsmouth, and members of the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, assisted in extrication, medical care, and traffic control.
The highway’s southbound lanes were fully closed for nearly five hours, with the left lane reopening around 6:00 p.m. and full traffic flow restored by 10:00 p.m. Authorities conducted an extensive scene investigation to document contributing factors and determine fault.
We extend our thoughts to all victims of this devastating crash and wish them strength and healing during their recovery.
